A flight attendant has warned against changing a seat on a plane without notifying a flight attendant for a rather scary reason.
Serenity Haley, who works for American Airlines, reveals a number of interesting facts about life as a cabin crew member through her videos on TikTok.
According to Haley, some passengers changing their seats on planes before take-off may cause the plane to make an emergency landing due to the way the weight is distributed, and the matter may lead to the plane crashing.
In one of the recent videos that Haley posted on her account on the social networking application, she told her 10.2 thousand followers why seats on the plane should never be changed without telling the crew, for a serious reason.
Here's a quick and fun fact about planes and why you shouldn't change your seat without asking the flight attendant. Before take off, we always do what is called weighing and balancing just to make sure that the weight is good on the plane and the balance is fine for take off. So when you change your seat, you are actually changing the plane's balance, so make sure you always ask.”

One of the pilots confirmed what Haley said, revealing a frightening moment a crew member once experienced after passengers moved in before a flight.
Pilot Magnar Nordahl said: “Four passengers sat in front of their designated seats before take-off. My first assistant was flying, and he ran into problems when he started to rotate the plane: it was too heavy. This was a very critical situation, because the runway was very short, and we wouldn't have been able to stop."
If the systems are misconfigured, the plane could crash on takeoff,” Nordahl explained in the popular Quora forum.
He emphasized that there are no rules or laws against exchanging seats, as long as passengers consult flight attendants before doing so.
A flight attendant confirmed that the best place to sit is actually the back of the plane.
