The Emirates Mars Explore Project launches the "Discover X" competition

The Emirates Exploration Project for Mars launched the "probe of hope", in partnership with the "Dubai Aviation Show 2021", the "Discover X" challenge, a new national competition designed to inspire students and talents to take care of space science and advanced technology, and establish a new generation of national cadres interested in working in the sectorsSpace and aviation in a way that contributes to diversifying the national economy.

The multidisciplinary competition provides opportunities for young people in the country to go into an interesting experience to build an important building to discover a new planet, through a two -month competition dedicated to designing robots and programming to explore space.

The "Discover X" challenge is launched with a pre -qualification round in September, followed by a week of training next October. The main challenge will be held during the "Dubai Air Exhibition 2021", which will last from 14 to 18 November, where high school students and universities will have to design ground robots and a non -pilot plane that takes the task of surveying the Planet X to discover its characteristics. The winning team will receive a prize of 50,000 dirhams.

Engineer Imran Sharaf, director of the Emirates Mars Exploration Project, "The probe of hope", stressed that "empowering young people and building their scientific capabilities is an important part of the UAE's vision to enhance its global position in all areas related to space.

He said that "the challenge of discovering the Planet X", in partnership with the Dubai Air Exhibition 2021, aims to inspire young people and stimulate their capabilities and skills in science, engineering, technology and mathematics, through the design of robots and their programming to carry out complex exploratory missions on Mars successfully. We want to inspire youth.

We are pleased to support important initiatives such as the Planet X -discover challenge, which provides students with the opportunity to highlight their skills, gain experiences and knowledge from senior experts in the sector, and pave the way for them to work in the future in the field of space..

According to the conditions for participating in the "Planet Discover" challenge, students must complete the pre -rehabilitation challenge, in which the applicants are required to design a plane without a pilot capable of carrying out missions on the planet X, and providing technical details about how to implement its work, as well as competition in the direct programming challenge thatIt will be held in September.

The forty students who occupied the lead will be called for training and guidance by engineers and technicians. They will learn how to design the latest robots, vehicles and aircraft and produce them through 3D printers.

The main challenge will be held in November during the 2021 Dubai Air Show.To successfully complete their mission, students will have to confront two challenges: First, build an unmanned ground vehicle to study the surface of the planet X and search for a site to collect samples using Lego Mindstorms EV3.There will be different programming levels among high school students and university. All robots must also have sensors and engines, provided that the teams have five minutes to complete the task of experimental simulation without any support or assistance.

The second challenge will include a drone design to carry out reconnaissance missions.Students will be asked to use a CAD Fusion 360 program, to design the plane and print it in a 3D, in addition to a technical display about its design.
