The MRTT tanker aircraft is the right choice for the Egyptian Air Force to join as the first aerial refueling platform.
One of the main features of this modern aircraft is its ability to perform both methods of air refueling (Probe & Drogue / Flying Boom) at the same time, or in Arabic translation, the two methods of injection and feeding, as an example of injection in F-16 fighters, and an example of feeding the Rafale and Mirage 2000.
The unit price of the MRTT is about $200 million, while the price of the Il-78 ranges between $80-90 million and it can carry approximately 111 tons of fuel. Therefore, the Egyptian Air Force has recently intensified its training with the UAE and France on aerial refueling capabilities via the A330 MRTT.
It is worth noting that Egypt concluded a deal with the Airbus Group to purchase two A330 MRTT aircraft as an initial deal.
