Expo 2020 Dubai kicked off the Travel and Communication Week, in which a group of prominent international figures, innovators and policy makers are participating, to discuss digitization and connectivity as a global human right and a force for good in a changing world.

Expo 2020 Dubai continued to amaze the world with new scientific inventions, which, after the first 100 days of the global event, amounted to about 46 inventions in the sectors of industry, agriculture, energy, medicine, the environment, cars, trains, and other sectors directly related to human life.

Japan topped the list of countries with the most inventions with 7 inventions, including maps displaying fog solutions, nano-fiber technology, regenerative medicine system, magnetic energy generation mechanism, making oils from waste tires, filters that capture dust and viruses, and technology for producing mineral water from air.

Germany came in second place with 4 inventions, including manufacturing water pumps, solar energy coolers, a self-driving electric jet, and a solar refrigerator.

The UAE, Italy, Britain and China ranked third with 3 inventions each. The Emirati inventions included sustainable city homes, a compressed air train, and desert cultivation using salt water and fish waste.

The Italian inventions included an atomic clock, a space drilling machine, and propellers to change direction, while the British inventions included a “robot” to teach future engineers, an intelligent cooling system to preserve vaccines, and a self-driving “Roboris” car.

As for the Chinese inventions, they included a prototype self-driving car, a "Beidou" satellite navigation system, and a high-speed bullet train.

The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Sciences organized a ceremony at the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai to honor the recipients of the fourth cycle grant of the programme, namely: Dr. Bradley Baker for his research project entitled (Improving rainfall in the UAE through pollination using nano-hygroscopic materials). ), and Dr. Luca Delle Monacci for his research project entitled Hybrid Machine Learning to Improve Real-Time Precipitation.

Fourth Industrial Revolution

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and Ericsson organized a panel discussion and a joint workshop on the Fourth Industrial Revolution, within the Swedish pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The event dealt with the most important factors motivating digital transformation in the region and the important role of technology in introducing digital technologies to various industries in the country, as well as the strategic initiatives of the UAE such as the “300 billion project” and the “Climate Neutrality Strategic Initiative 2050”.

The Higher Committee of Expo 2020 Dubai revealed that the global event has achieved 9,529,710 visits in 102 days since its opening on the first of last October, with an average of 81.6 thousand visits per day, while the number of virtual visits via the digital platforms of the global event reached 57.4 million visits.

The countries in Expo 2020 Dubai continued to celebrate their national days, as the global event witnessed the celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, in the presence of Omar Cisco Embalo, President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania celebrated its National Day, in the presence of Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, as well. The Republic of Chad celebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai, where the Chad flag was hoisted alongside the UAE flag in Al Wasl Square.

Malaysia

The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia in Malaysia has launched the “Malaysian Digital Economy Week” at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will run until January 15, and its activities will be held in the Malaysian Pavilion.

The week is expected to generate potential business and investment opportunities worth RM300 million.
